Project overview
Multi-stage fitout delivered for Virtual Room Australia to support immersive VR gaming environment in Sydney CBD.
Client Brief
Virtual Room Australia engaged DY Constructions Australia to deliver a specialised fitout for their immersive VR escape room venue in Sydney. The client required multiple themed rooms designed to support interactive gameplay, with wall padding, acoustic treatment, and concealed electrical infrastructure to ensure a safe and immersive user experience. The brief also included construction of support areas such as waiting zones, corridors, and concealed server areas.
Challenges
Delivering this type of VR entertainment space required consideration for both safety and technical functionality. Acoustic control, impact-resistant finishes, and spatial planning had to be balanced carefully. Electrical and data cabling needed to be integrated invisibly, without disrupting the gameplay area. Additionally, maintaining design consistency and coordinating specialised trades within a tight layout presented several logistical and sequencing challenges.
The Solution
DY Constructions worked closely with the client to finalise room layouts and wall detailing to suit gameplay requirements. Acoustic partitioning, high-impact wall padding, and durable flooring were installed to enhance both performance and safety. Electrical and data services were routed strategically behind finished surfaces to ensure clean, hazard-free rooms. Works were delivered in stages to minimise disruption and maintain access for the client team during testing phases.
The Result
All spaces were delivered in line with the client’s design intent and operational needs. Each play room met acoustic and safety expectations, with seamless integration of AV, data, and electrical infrastructure. The client was highly satisfied with the result, and the space was opened to the public shortly after completion.
