ISO 14644-1 is a global standard that defines cleanliness based on the number of particles allowed per cubic metre of air. Each ISO cleanroom classification (ISO 1 to ISO 9) reflects how clean the environment is. The lower the class number, the fewer airborne particles allowed. Cleanrooms feature tightly controlled air, pressure, and particle counts.
