Client Brief
Brent Street engaged DY Constructions Australia to transform underutilised space within their Moore Park facility into a functional and purpose-built performing arts environment.
The client sought to expand their operations by adding new dance studios, singing rooms, office spaces, and breakout areas. DY worked closely with Brent Street through the design phase to ensure the layout, finishes, and functionality aligned with the needs of a high-performing and reputable dance institution.
Challenges
The dance studio fitout and refurbishment project was delivered under a tight timeframe, with the client requesting completion during the school holidays and Christmas period to ensure the studios were operational before students returned. DY Constructions had to plan meticulously to coordinate a large number of subcontractors and specialist trades. Extensive mechanical, air conditioning, fire, and electrical adjustments were required to suit the reconfigured layout. Additionally, the client introduced numerous design changes and additional works throughout the build, requiring ongoing revisions to plans and quick turnaround on site adjustments.
The Solution
The DY Constructions team leveraged strong project management and deep industry expertise to deliver the project within the tight deadline. A large number of subcontractors were engaged and carefully coordinated to keep works progressing efficiently. The team remained flexible and responsive, adapting quickly to ongoing client revisions and changes to the scope. Clear communication, fast decision-making, and proactive scheduling ensured all elements were completed on time and to a high standard.
The Result
The project was successfully delivered on time, with the client expressing satisfaction with both the outcome and the process. Brent Street went on to engage DY Constructions for multiple additional projects, including further studio upgrades, acoustic improvements, and refurbishments to breakout areas, staff rooms, and training spaces.
The completed fitout included new dance studios, acoustic music rooms, administration offices, training rooms, and a custom reception area. Students and staff alike responded positively to the refreshed spaces, which now better support Brent Street’s daily operations and reputation as one of Australia’s leading performing arts institutions.
