The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) engaged DY Constructions Australia to modernise their Sydney CBD office across two floors. The client sought to refresh the workspace through a full repaint of all walls, ceilings, and doors, along with a major carpet tile replacement to improve the overall look and feel of the environment.

Challenges

The project required completion within a short timeframe to minimise disruption and avoid extended office closure. This placed pressure on scheduling and coordination to ensure works were delivered quickly without compromising quality.

The client also requested thorough approval of carpet tile selection and paint colours prior to commencement, requiring DY to work closely with them to finalise the perfect finishes. Additionally, with existing office furniture remaining in place during parts of the works, extra care was taken to protect all items and avoid any damage throughout the refurbishment.

The Solution

DY staged the works by splitting the office into sections, allowing staff to maintain access to parts of the workplace while refurbishment progressed. This approach minimised disruption and ensured the project stayed on schedule.

To meet the client’s expectations on finishes, DY provided carpet and paint samples, testing colours on site to achieve the perfect match with the existing environment. Throughout the works, the site manager closely coordinated trades to maintain smooth progress, while existing furniture was carefully covered and protected to prevent any damage.

Scope of Works

  • Carpet Replacement – Removal of existing carpet tiles and installation of new commercial-grade tiles (Inspired Floors “Mist” range) across Level 5 and part of Level 6, including furniture relocation and trims where required.
  • Painting & Surface Preparation – Preparation and repainting of all existing painted surfaces, including walls, ceilings, and thirty-two internal doors. Minor patching of holes and imperfections prior to painting.
  • Minor Works – Additional patching and repainting to columns and areas with wall fixings removed, completed under a separate variation.
  • Site Preparation & Protection – Installation of heavy-duty plastic floor protection, adherence to WHS requirements, and site safety management throughout works.
  • Cleaning & Waste Removal – Daily and final trade cleaning, vacuuming, and removal of all waste materials.
  • Project Management – Full coordination of trades, scheduling of works to minimise disruption, and quality control inspections at all stages.
