Project overview
Office fitout, strip out and make good delivered by DY Constructions for Acciona on Harrington Street, CBD, Sydney.
Client Brief
Acciona, a repeat client, engaged DY Constructions Australia to deliver a comprehensive office fitout at their new Harrington Street premises. The project included the construction of meeting rooms, boardrooms, quiet rooms, and the installation of custom-built reception joinery tailored to the company’s design and storage needs.
As the building is heritage-listed, DY applied careful planning and fitout methods to protect original architectural elements. DY also supported the client in coordinating BCA consulting certification, ensuring all works were compliant and appropriately documented for occupancy and regulatory approval.
Challenges
The project operated under a tight timeframe, requiring efficient coordination to meet the client’s relocation schedule. Midway through the fitout, the client issued design changes, which required DY to swiftly manage redraws, redesigns, and re-sequencing of the construction program to minimise delays.
Working within a heritage-listed building added complexity, particularly around the installation of new partitions. DY had to ensure all works complied with strict council guidelines, using non-invasive methods and carefully coordinated detailing to preserve the building’s original structure and finishes.
The Solution
DY managed the tight timeframe through structured scheduling, organised coordination, and a trusted network of subcontractors to keep works moving efficiently. When the client introduced design changes mid-fitout, DY held review meetings, revised documentation, and adjusted the program to fast-track delivery without compromising quality.
To meet heritage compliance, DY worked closely with a private certifier, ensuring all works were non-invasive and carefully built around original timber elements to preserve the integrity of the building.
The Result
Acciona moved into their new office on the targeted date, with the fitout completed to their full satisfaction. The client was particularly pleased with the quality of finishes, the smooth delivery under pressure, and DY’s responsiveness throughout the project. They later provided a written testimonial commending DY’s professionalism and attention to detail.
The scope included construction of new meeting rooms, quiet rooms, and collaborative areas, along with custom reception joinery and detailed partitioning throughout. All works were carried out with sensitivity to the building’s heritage features, resulting in a functional and refined corporate environment.
